Oklahoma Art Museum
The Oklahoma Art Museum or the Oklahoma City Museum of Art is one of the major attractions in Oklahoma City. Apart from traveling exhibits, the museum features a large permanent European and American art collection. It also has the reputation of having the world's largest collection of Dale Chihuly glass.
Brilliant Stuff at the OKC Art Museum
There are several attractions within the OKC Museum of Art including Noble Theatre where internationally acclaimed films of artistic value are screened, the Donald W. Reynolds Visual Arts Center, a resource center and a café. There are special events regularly held at the OKC art museum including Thursdays' "Cocktails on the Skyline" and annual events such as the fiEGGSta Omelette Party and the Renaissance Ball.
Great Events Lined Up
There are some great events lined up in the coming months at the Oklahoma Art Museum.
- One of these is a collection of above 30 lithographs and drawings by Luis Jiminez from July 15 to December 12, 2010 called Works on Paper.
- An exhibition that's going on till August 15, 2010 is Sketch to Screen, a collection of garments and accessories used by some of the most illustrious yesteryear and contemporary Hollywood stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Charlton Heston, Bette Davis, Russell Crowe, Johnny Depp, Renee Zellweger, etc.
Other upcoming exhibitions at the Oklahoma Art Museum include:
- A collection of works by Jonathan Hils called New Frontiers from September 9, 2010 to January 2, 2011
- An exhibition of eighteenth century Venetian art from North American collections called La Serenissima to be held in the same period.
