Oklahoma City Zoo
Oklahoma City Zoo is situated in the popular Adventure District in Oklahoma City. The area is home to many other attractions including Science Museum Oklahoma. The OKC Zoo is grouped among the top 10 zoos in the United States and is the oldest zoo in the Southwest. It is a source of great excitement for kids and adults alike, and there is quite a lot to see and do here.
Great Stuff at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden
The Oklahoma City Zoo features a number of attractions including special environments for some of the species such as Butterfly Garden, Cat Forest, Herpetarium, Island Life, Aquaticus and Great EscAPE. There is a host of exotic animals on display as well as more than 100 landscaped areas. These attractions include the Children's Zoo, Oklahoma Trails and Pachyderm. In addition there is a special attraction coming in 2011 and worth waiting for - the Asia Exhibit.
Apart from the vast collection of animal species there is also extensive plant life featured. There are events and interactive programs held often that include group tours, picnic areas, rides, outreach programs and special shows. The Oklahoma Zoo also features the popular Amphitheater where live music by bands visiting Oklahoma City attracts audiences.
Exciting Events Lined Up
There are quite a few events scheduled in the coming days. The most unique of these has to be "Art Gone Wild" from August 6 to 28, 2010 where you can view and purchase artwork actually created by the animals at the zoo! Way Back Wednesdays are on till August 25. On these days visitors can enter for an admission fee of just $1.
